Matthew is the General Manager of Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, a prestigious 4 AA Red Star property nestled within the historic Bowood Estate near Calne, Wiltshire. Appointed in September 2024, Matthew brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in luxury hospitality management. Prior to joining Bowood, Matthew served as GM with Hand Picked hotels and before that, The Nare Hotel in Cornwall for six years. During his tenure, he successfully elevated the hotel into the 5-star market, earning accolades such as Seaside Hotel of the Year 2019 and Best Hotel for Families 2020 from the Good Hotel Guide. Under his leadership, The Nare also received the Condé Nast Johansens’ Sustainability Award in 2019 and the Best Service Award in 2022. At Bowood, Matthew is committed to enhancing the guest experience and upholding the resort’s reputation for excellence. He aims to build upon Bowood’s strong foundation, ensuring it remains a top destination for both leisure and business travellers.
